Medial Branch Blocks in Forest Park, Georgia: Treatment Planning

This page focuses on what a pain response means after a medial branch block. That answer helps guide the next treatment discussion, especially when neck or back pain continues after a collision.

A useful response may support further review of facet joint pain. It doesn't prove that every pain source comes from the facet joints, and it doesn't replace a full injury exam. Our team connects the procedure record with symptoms, physical findings, and detailed medical documentation.

Patients in Forest Park can request an evaluation through our collision-injury practice. We also serve McDonough, Henry County, Jonesboro, Riverdale, and nearby communities.

  • Review whether the pain pattern fits facet joint involvement.
  • Connect the procedure response with the physical examination.
  • Discuss whether a repeat block or radiofrequency ablation fits the plan.
  • Keep the treatment record clear for the patient and referring attorney.

Service Overview

Medial branch blocks are injections that test whether small nerves near facet joints carry pain from the neck or back.

  • Unlike an epidural steroid injection, a medial branch block focuses on nerves linked to facet joints, not the epidural space around spinal nerves.
  • We provide this evaluation and treatment service for auto accident patients in Forest Park.

Typical costs and sizing

“The second diagnostic procedure may only be performed a minimum of 2 weeks after the initial diagnostic procedure.”

“After the first diagnostic facet joint procedure, there must be a consistent positive response of at least 80% relief of primary (index) pain (with the duration of relief being consistent with the agent used)”

What a Pain Response Can Change

A clear pain response may help narrow the suspected source of neck or back pain.

The result gives the patient a more informed basis for discussing later facet-focused care.

A response record can help the medical team explain why a next step is being considered.

Patients receive a plan that connects symptoms, examination findings, and procedure results.

Process

Steps From Evaluation to the Next Care Decision

1

Review the collision injury

We discuss the crash, pain pattern, prior care, and relevant medical records.

2

Assess the suspected pain source

The physical examination helps us decide whether facet-related pain belongs in the treatment discussion.

3

Explain the block's purpose

We explain what the injection tests, what relief may mean, and what the procedure cannot prove.

4

Record the patient response

We document the response and compare it with the symptoms and examination findings.

5

Discuss later options

A meaningful response may lead to a discussion of a repeat block or radiofrequency ablation.

What Patients Get From Facet-Focused Care

A decision tied to your response

Your response to the block becomes one part of the next care discussion. Relief alone doesn't prove that every symptom comes from a facet joint.

Collision injury focus

Our practice treats motor vehicle collision injuries rather than general primary care, urgent care, or workers’ compensation cases.

Connected medical records

We bring injury evaluation, interventional treatment, and detailed medical documentation together in one practice.

I had a great experience at premier injury specialist after my car accident. From the moment I walked in, Tracy, the patient coordinator, made sure I understood the process and felt comfortable. Tony, the medical assistant, did an amazing job explaining the procedure in detail, which eased my nerves. Dr. Vyas thoroughly reviewed my MRI and took the time to explain my condition and treatment options. He was very honest and upfront about the procedure, making sure I truly needed the injection before administering it. His transparency and genuine care for my well-being reassured me that this office isn’t just in it for the money — they are truly invested in their patients’ health. I highly recommend this office to anyone in need of pain management. They provide exceptional care with professionalism and integrity.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

Questions About Relief After Medial Branch Blocks

How does a repeat block fit after short-term relief?

A repeat block may be discussed when the first response supports facet-related pain but symptoms return. The team reviews how much relief occurred, how long it lasted, and whether the exam still fits. This step doesn't guarantee that later treatment will help. The record must support the decision before another procedure is considered.

Which pain sources are outside a medial branch block?

Disc pain, nerve-root irritation, muscle strain, and some headache causes may fall outside a medial branch block's target. The block focuses on medial branch nerves near facet joints. We compare your symptoms with the examination and injury history. That review helps determine whether another service, such as an epidural steroid injection, belongs in the plan.

When should radiofrequency ablation enter the discussion?

Radiofrequency ablation enters the discussion when the block response supports facet-related pain and the broader evaluation fits. The procedure affects selected medial branch nerves with controlled heat. Our team explains the possible role, limits, and records needed before making that choice. A positive block response alone doesn't promise a lasting result.

Why might pain return after a successful block?

Pain may return because the block can provide temporary relief while the underlying pain source remains. The returning symptoms still need review, especially if their location or pattern changes. We compare the new symptoms with the original examination and procedure record. Contact urgent medical services for severe new weakness, loss of bladder control, or other emergency symptoms.

What should I bring to the first consultation for Medial Branch Blocks?

Bring available accident records, prior imaging reports, medication information, and medical bills or claim documents. These records help connect the injury history with the current symptoms. A referral isn't required in most cases, and attorneys may coordinate documentation with our practice. Our team will explain which records matter for the next decision.

Before work begins, who provides medial branch blocks for auto accident injuries when setting up the service plan?

Premier Injury Specialists provides medial branch blocks for patients recovering from motor vehicle collisions. Our board-certified pain management physicians focus on collision-related neck and back conditions. The practice also includes board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation providers and a certified physician assistant. We connect evaluation, interventional care, and injury documentation.
