Medial branch blocks for Riverdale auto accident injuries

Medial branch blocks help assess whether facet joints contribute to ongoing neck or back pain after a collision. The service fits patients whose symptoms continue after the initial injury evaluation and whose exam supports further facet-related assessment.

A helpful response does not promise a lasting result by itself. It gives the pain management physician more information for diagnostic confirmation and treatment planning. Patients should ask what the response means for their own symptoms and whether another procedure fits better.

Our team serves Riverdale through clinics in Stockbridge and Buckhead. We also see patients from McDonough, Henry County, Jonesboro, and surrounding communities.

  • Review the pain location and pattern after the auto accident.
  • Discuss prior injections, medicines, imaging, and examination findings.
  • Ask how the pain response affects the next treatment decision.
  • Confirm what medical records should be added to the injury file.

Service Overview

Medial branch blocks are targeted injections that help assess pain linked to small nerves near facet joints.

  • Unlike epidural steroid injections, they focus on medial branch nerves instead of nerve roots affected by disc irritation.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this care for Riverdale patients through its Metro Atlanta injury practice.

Typical costs and sizing

“The second diagnostic procedure may only be performed a minimum of 2 weeks after the initial diagnostic procedure.”

“After the first diagnostic facet joint procedure, there must be a consistent positive response of at least 80% relief of primary (index) pain (with the duration of relief being consistent with the agent used)”

What a helpful pain response can clarify

A pain response may help connect symptoms with facet-related pain.

The findings can give your physician more information for treatment planning.

Clear documentation supports communication among the patient, medical team, and referring attorney.

Focused evaluation keeps the decision tied to collision-related injuries.

Patients receive an explanation of what the findings mean for their care.

How this treatment decision is made

Response guides the next discussion

A meaningful response can support diagnostic confirmation, but it does not guarantee lasting relief. We compare the response with your exam and symptoms before discussing the next step.

Collision care stays focused

Our practice treats motor vehicle collision injuries rather than general primary care, urgent care, or workers’ compensation cases. That focus keeps the visit centered on injury evaluation and documentation.

Another source may fit better

This service may be the wrong choice when symptoms point to a different source, such as nerve root irritation or another condition. We review the findings and discuss other available treatment options when appropriate.

Process

How we review the treatment path

1

Review the collision injury

We discuss your symptoms, prior care, medicines, imaging, and the way pain affects daily activity.

2

Check the pain pattern

We perform a focused examination and compare the findings with possible facet joint and nerve-related pain sources.

3

Assess the response

We review how much the block changed your pain and how that change matched the suspected source.

4

Plan the next step

We explain whether continued care, another injection, or radiofrequency ablation discussion fits the findings.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

Questions about pain response and next steps

What happens if a repeat block relieves my pain?

A repeat block that relieves pain can support diagnostic confirmation and future treatment planning. The physician compares the response with your symptoms and examination. Radiofrequency ablation may be discussed when the findings fit, but relief from a block does not guarantee the same result from another procedure. Individual results vary.

Who provides medial branch block care for collision injuries?

Premier Injury Specialists provides this care for patients injured in motor vehicle collisions. Our board-certified pain management physicians evaluate neck and back conditions linked to crashes. The practice also includes board-certified providers in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, pain medicine, and certified physician assistants.

Which records should I bring to the consultation for Medial Branch Blocks?

Medical records, imaging reports, medication lists, and prior injection notes help the physician review your injury. Bring any documents from emergency care, primary care, or another pain clinic. Attorney referrals can include related records, and our practice coordinates documentation directly with referring attorneys.

How does a block differ from an epidural injection?

A medial branch block assesses small nerves linked with facet joints, while an epidural injection targets space around irritated spinal nerves. The two procedures address different suspected pain sources. Our team reviews your symptoms and examination before discussing which option fits the injury pattern.

When is radiofrequency ablation discussed after a block?

Radiofrequency ablation is discussed when the pain response and clinical findings support a facet-related source. The physician also considers your ongoing symptoms and prior care. A block response guides the conversation, but it does not create an automatic treatment choice.

Does a patient need a referral before an evaluation for Medial Branch Blocks?

Most patients can schedule an evaluation without a referral. The first visit reviews the collision, symptoms, examination findings, and available records. Attorneys may also refer clients and coordinate documentation with our practice.

What factors in your requirements change the price of follow-up treatment after a pain response?

Follow-up cost depends on the evaluation, procedure selected, records reviewed, and documentation needs. Free consultations let patients discuss those factors before choosing a plan. We do not provide a treatment price until the needed services are understood.
