Medial Branch Blocks in Lovejoy for Focused Collision-Injury Care

Medial branch blocks help assess pain that may come from facet joints in the spine. These joints can become painful after an auto accident, especially when neck or back pain continues after the first evaluation.

The procedure is not the right fit for every injury. Our clinicians review symptoms, physical findings, prior records, and available imaging before discussing whether a targeted block fits your plan.

People in Lovejoy can use this page to understand the procedure and its recovery guidance. The decision is whether the suspected pain source matches the treatment, not whether every type of back pain needs an injection.

  • The pain pattern points toward a possible facet joint source.
  • The clinician reviews prior injury records and available imaging.
  • The care plan explains local anesthetic, needle placement, and follow-up.
  • Urgent symptoms receive appropriate medical attention before planned treatment.

Service Overview

Medial branch blocks are targeted injections that place local anesthetic near small nerves linked to facet joint pain.

  • They differ from epidural steroid injections, which target the space around spinal nerves and may address radicular pain.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this care for accident-related injuries in Lovejoy and surrounding communities.

Process

Steps We Use for a Medial Branch Block Visit

1

Review the accident-related pain pattern

We discuss where the pain starts, how it moves, and what movements make it worse.

2

Check records and imaging

Our clinicians review the examination, available medical records, and imaging when those details help identify the suspected facet joint source.

3

Explain the injection plan

We explain the target, local anesthetic, possible risks, and recovery instructions before treatment.

4

Guide needle placement

Imaging guidance may be used to place the needle near the intended medial branch nerves.

5

Record the clinical response

We document the findings and use them with the examination to discuss the next step in care.

What to Weigh Before Choosing This Procedure

Match the injection to the pain source

Medial branch blocks fit suspected facet joint pain, so the exam and symptom pattern matter before treatment. A different injury may call for another approach.

Understand the role of local anesthetic

Local anesthetic temporarily numbs the targeted area during the assessment. Our clinicians explain what the response may show and what it cannot prove.

Plan for recovery after the visit

Recovery instructions tell you what to watch for after needle placement. Follow-up depends on your symptoms, findings, and broader injury plan.

What This Targeted Injection Can Clarify

A medial branch block may help identify whether facet joints contribute to neck or back pain.

The focused approach can give the care team useful information about the suspected pain source.

Detailed medical documentation supports communication with patients, attorneys, and referring teams.

The evaluation helps separate facet-related pain from symptoms linked to discs or spinal nerve irritation.

The staff (Tracy) and the medical folks are very nice. They explain everything to you in plain language before you even get started, and once you see doctor (Dr Scott), the assistant (Areyana) is gentle & sweet. They both will walk you through the entire process verbally, as they go and they make sure you are good before you leave as well. Above & beyond when it comes to bedside manner. Just make sure you don't get lost in the Kroger parking lot, listening to GPS. The clinic is inside Arrowhead across the street, behind Subway.

Questions About Medial Branch Block Visits

For Medial Branch Blocks, what should I expect during a medial branch block?

Recovery instructions explain what to watch for after the injection and how to follow the care plan. Premier Injury Specialists first reviews the suspected pain source, then explains imaging guidance, needle placement, and local anesthetic. You can ask about risks and warning signs before treatment. Individual responses vary, so follow-up depends on your symptoms and clinical findings.

When reviewing site readiness, who provides medial branch blocks for auto accident injuries as part of the intake checklist?

Premier Injury Specialists provides medial branch blocks for accident-related neck and back injuries. Our board-certified pain management physicians and certified physician assistant evaluate the condition and discuss whether the procedure fits. The practice focuses on motor vehicle collision injuries, so the visit also supports detailed medical documentation for patients and referring attorneys.

Which records should I bring to the first visit for Medial Branch Blocks?

Accident records, imaging reports, medication details, and prior treatment notes help the clinician assess your condition. Bring any documents you already have, but you can still request an evaluation without a referral in most cases. Our team reviews the available information and explains what it means for the proposed injection.

How does imaging guidance affect needle placement?

Imaging guidance helps the clinician identify the intended area and place the needle near the medial branch nerves. The clinician still matches the target to your symptoms and examination. Imaging does not make every injection appropriate, so the suspected facet joint source remains central to the treatment decision.

Why might a medial branch block be the wrong treatment for Medial Branch Blocks?

A medial branch block may be unsuitable when the symptoms point to another source, such as a disc or irritated spinal nerve. Our clinicians compare the pain pattern with the exam and available imaging before recommending it. Severe or changing neurologic symptoms need prompt medical evaluation, not a routine injection discussion.

What changes the cost of the injection visit?

The clinical evaluation, records reviewed, procedure selected, and documentation needs affect the cost. Premier Injury Specialists discusses those factors during a consultation and offers free consultations. MedPay or an attorney lien may be available for eligible treatment arrangements, but the billing path depends on the individual case.

Can I request this care in Lovejoy without a referral?

Most patients can schedule an evaluation without a referral. Our team reviews the accident-related symptoms first and then discusses whether medial branch blocks fit the suspected pain source. Same-day evaluations are often available, and attorneys can refer clients while coordinating documentation with the practice.
