Occipital nerve blocks for collision-related head pain in Flovilla

An occipital nerve block is a focused treatment for pain that follows the nerves across the back of the scalp. We consider it when headache symptoms connect with neck pain, scalp tenderness, or an auto accident injury.

The key decision is whether the pain pattern matches the nerve being treated. A block won't address every headache source, so our team reviews your symptoms and examination findings before discussing treatment.

Patients in Flovilla can seek this service through our Metro Atlanta injury practice. The same visit may also support detailed medical documentation for a MedPay claim or attorney lien.

Service Overview

Occipital nerve blocks are targeted injections that place medicine near nerves at the back of the head.

  • They differ from epidural steroid injections, which address pain linked to spinal nerve roots.
  • Premier Injury Specialists provides this collision-injury care for patients in Flovilla.

What occipital nerve injections include for your injury

Premier Injury Specialists provides comprehensive Occipital Nerve Blocks in Flovilla. Here's what you get:

  • We review the collision history and symptoms linked to head and neck pain.
  • We examine the pain pattern and related neck findings.
  • We discuss how an injection near the occipital nerve may fit your care plan.
  • We explain possible scalp numbness and injection soreness in plain language.
  • We provide activity guidance based on the treatment plan.
  • We maintain detailed medical documentation for the injury care process.

What this focused treatment can change

A targeted injection may help clarify whether the occipital nerve contributes to your head pain.

You receive a treatment discussion tied to your examination findings, not a general headache label.

Clear aftercare guidance helps you understand scalp numbness, soreness, and activity limits.

Our collision-injury focus keeps the medical record connected to the crash and your symptoms.

Why patients choose this focused injury treatment

A plan tied to the pain pattern

The treatment decision begins with symptoms, examination findings, and injury history. A nerve block is the wrong fit when another condition better explains the pain.

Interventional care in one practice

Our team brings injury evaluation, procedures, and medical documentation together. That helps keep the care plan connected from assessment through follow-up.

Credentials that support clinical judgment

Board-certified pain management physicians guide treatment decisions, while personalized plans address each patient's documented condition.

Process

How we plan and provide occipital nerve injections

1

Review the collision and symptom pattern

We document when the head pain began, where it travels, and how it relates to neck symptoms.

2

Check the nerve-related findings

We assess scalp tenderness, neck movement, and other examination findings that help identify the pain source.

3

Discuss the injection plan

We explain the target area, expected scalp sensation, injection soreness, and questions about the procedure.

4

Give post-treatment activity guidance

We explain what activity changes apply after treatment and what symptoms should prompt a follow-up question.

5

Document the treatment response

We record the procedure and response so the next care decision reflects the patient's injury history.

How targeted injections differ by pain source

These options address different findings, so the examination guides the choice.

Premier Injury and all of its staff has been an absolute life saver, I am deathly afraid of needles but my pain was unbearable each day and could not abuse ibuprofen so they convinced me and walked me through the entire process and Dr. Vyas did an amazing job with my epidural and muscle injections both procedures went extremely well and with the help of a one a kind angel Ms.Tracy I am no longer afraid of needles. Ms.Tracy is one of the nicest people I ever met in my life and has made this entire process of my accident so much smoother thank you Premier Injury and all of their staff for my speedy recovery they truly have changed my life. Anybody who is afraid of needles should atleast try with them they will calm you down and you will feel so much better afterwards, it’s a little sting and discomfort that’s all but the relief you get right after is so worth it THANK YOU AGAIN ESPECIALLY YOU MS.TRACY!!!!!10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!!!!

Tracy checked me in. Tony triaged me and Dr Scott took care of me. They made me feel welcome and comfortable from start to finish. I don't think I've ever had a doctor's visit this WONDERFUL! I barely felt a thing and as a person who is terribly afraid of needles, they took all my fears away and provided an excellent experience. Tony plays your favorite music during the procedure and it lasts about one song. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!!

Questions patients ask about occipital nerve injections

What should I expect after an occipital nerve block?

Headache relief is the main goal, while scalp numbness or injection soreness can occur afterward.

We explain:

  • how the treated area may feel
  • which activities need care
  • when to ask about a new or worsening symptom

Premier Injury Specialists documents your response and discusses the next treatment decision.

How does scalp numbness fit into normal aftercare?

Scalp numbness can occur near the treated occipital nerve after the injection. The location and change in sensation matter, so we explain what to monitor before you leave. Follow the activity guidance from our team, and ask about symptoms that feel severe, spread, or do not match the instructions you received.

Which findings help decide if this injection fits?

Pain behind the head, scalp tenderness, and related neck findings help determine whether the injection fits. We also review the collision history and prior care. A different treatment may be more appropriate when the examination points to a spinal nerve root, joint, or another source of pain.

When should I ask about activity after treatment?

Activity guidance should be discussed before you resume demanding tasks after treatment. Your plan depends on the injection findings, symptoms, and the instructions given at the visit. We explain how to handle ordinary activity, what sensation to watch, and when a follow-up question is appropriate.

Why might head pain return after treatment?

Returning head pain can reflect ongoing nerve irritation or another pain source. Our team compares the new pattern with the original examination and treatment response. That review may support continued observation, another procedure, or a different interventional option when the documented findings point elsewhere.

What records should I bring for a Flovilla injury visit?

Medical records that describe the collision, symptoms, imaging, and prior treatment help us assess the case. Bring available accident-related documents and medication information. We can also coordinate detailed documentation with an attorney when a client is referred through a legal office.
