Occipital nerve blocks for accident-related head pain in Jackson

Occipital nerve blocks focus on pain that travels through the occipital nerves. Patients may ask about this treatment after whiplash, neck strain, or headaches that began after a crash.

The main decision is whether the pain pattern fits the treatment. Our team reviews the accident history, symptoms, neck findings, and prior care before discussing an injection. The procedure may help some patients, but individual results vary.

This page serves a focused buyer question: what happens after the injection. Scalp numbness and injection soreness can affect activity plans, while headache relief may develop differently for each patient. We explain those points during the visit and record the findings for ongoing care.

  • Ask whether the headache pattern fits occipital nerve treatment.
  • Share current medicines, allergies, and prior injections.
  • Plan for activity based on the instructions given after treatment.
  • Report new or worsening symptoms to a medical provider.

Service Overview

Occipital nerve blocks are injections near the occipital nerves that may reduce pain signals from the back of the head and upper neck.

  • They differ from epidural steroid injections, which target pain linked to spinal nerves and the epidural space.
  • We provide this care for patients in Jackson through our auto accident injury practice.
Process

How we provide occipital nerve treatment

1

Review the accident and symptoms

We discuss when the headache began, where it travels, and how neck pain or numbness affects daily activity.

2

Complete the focused examination

The examination checks the head, scalp, upper neck, and related pain patterns before treatment is discussed.

3

Explain the injection plan

We describe the injection near the occipital nerves, expected soreness, possible numbness, and warning signs.

4

Set post-treatment activity guidance

We give instructions for activity and symptom monitoring based on the clinical findings from your visit.

5

Record findings and plan follow-up

We document the visit and explain the next step for ongoing collision-injury care.

How we approach occipital nerve treatment

Match the injection to the pain pattern

The pain pattern guides the treatment discussion. Occipital nerve blocks may be the wrong choice when symptoms point to another cause, such as a different spinal nerve or a condition needing urgent medical care.

Explain the post-visit plan

Our team reviews scalp numbness, injection soreness, activity limits, and warning signs in plain language. You can ask questions before leaving.

Keep injury records together

We bring evaluation, interventional care, and medical documentation into one practice. Board-certified pain management physicians guide the treatment plan.

What this treatment may change for the patient

A nerve block may help reduce pain signals from the back of the head.

Clear post-treatment guidance helps you plan activity after the visit.

A focused evaluation can connect headache symptoms with other crash injuries.

Detailed records can support communication with attorneys and other members of your care team.

Same-day evaluations are often available for patients who need an initial assessment.

Questions about occipital nerve treatment after a crash

What should I expect after an occipital nerve block for Occipital Nerve Blocks?

Activity guidance starts with symptom monitoring after the injection. Scalp numbness or injection soreness can occur, and headache relief may vary. We explain what activity fits your condition and which warning signs need medical attention. Seek urgent care for sudden severe headache, weakness, confusion, fainting, or vision changes.

Who provides occipital nerve blocks for auto accident injuries?

Premier Injury Specialists provides occipital nerve blocks through its collision-injury practice. Board-certified pain management physicians evaluate the injury pattern and discuss whether the treatment fits. The practice also includes injury documentation and other interventional options when those services match the patient’s condition.

How does a doctor decide whether this injection fits my headache?

The headache pattern and examination help determine whether occipital nerve treatment fits. We review the accident history, pain location, neck symptoms, and related findings. The injection may not fit symptoms caused by another condition, so the evaluation comes before a treatment plan.

What changes the cost of the visit and injection?

The evaluation, treatment plan, documentation needs, and related services drive the cost. Premier Injury Specialists offers Free Consultations and explains billing options before care is arranged. MedPay or an attorney lien may apply in some cases, so bring relevant accident and billing information to the discussion.

When should I seek urgent care after treatment?

Urgent care is appropriate for sudden severe headache, weakness, confusion, fainting, or vision changes. Mild injection soreness or scalp numbness can be discussed with our team when symptoms match the post-treatment instructions. Patients in Jackson can request an evaluation through our auto accident injury practice.

Do I need a referral before requesting an evaluation?

Most patients can schedule an evaluation without a referral. Our team reviews the accident history and current symptoms during the visit. Attorneys may also refer clients and coordinate medical documentation directly with the practice, which can help keep injury records organized.

Can this treatment address every type of post-crash headache?

Occipital nerve blocks do not address every source of post-crash headache. The treatment targets pain linked to the occipital nerves, while cervical spine problems or other conditions may need a different plan. We assess the full injury pattern before recommending an intervention.
